Those of you who have been following Elite:Dangerous since the Kickstarter, will know of the original RPG project by Dave Hughes at Daftworks. Well, after five years of struggle, The Elite Encounters RPG has been approved for release and digital copies of the game are now available for sale at the Daftworks Store.
All of us at Lave Radio wish to send our congratulations to Dave as we know how much effort, blood, sweat, tears, coffee and late nights he’s put into this project (with a little bit of help from our own Colin Ford, among many others).
We have three episodes using the game and they can be found at:
Crew Members Director of Pest Control : Ashley Devine – DrToxic Head of health and safety : Ben Moss-Woodward – Cmdr Eid LeWeise Chief Archivist : Colin Ford – Cmdr phoenix_dfire Chief Bar Steward : Grant Woolcott – Cmdr Psykokow (In)Human Resources Director : Shan – Cmdr Shanaeri
Sale to tencent raised £17.7m and was to “improve and accelerate Frontier’s growth into the key Chinese market and help drive scale-up of the business.”
Elite had in excess of 2.7m cumulative sales from Dec 2014
Monetisation of both PC and Elite will NOT include pay to win features.
INRA Base Mega Thread – Stay away from the file dipping controversy. Also players have found what looks like the remains of a Thargoid scout at the base where maybe the Mycoid virus was used to test . base is Klatt Enterprises at Alnath A2 AA 4.0167 133.54
Dave Hughes RPG – Elite Encounters Has been APPROVED. It will be released soon (It also means that a version of Colin’s Miniatures Has been Approved!!)
DeskPins is an open source application that allows you to “pin” a window so that it remains “on top” of your Elite any full-screen borderless window (does not work with true-full screen)… Perfect for that trip to Hutton Orbital!
Thargoids are evolving again. – Seems they’re getting more maneuverable and now have a shut down attack, rendering you immobile while it beats a hasty retreat. (They are learning!!!)
New Weapons – Remote Flak Launcher, Anti Shutdown device coming (See previous point).
Last set of AX upgrades for now.

On Friday I went to a Panel on the Past, Present and Future of XCOM with Julian Gollop, the original creator of X-COM: UFO Defense , and Jake Solomon, creative director of the current XCOM. At the panel I bumped into Cmdr Wishblend and spoke to her about the highlight’s of her day.
On Saturday and Sunday I spoke to a lot of the Smaller Developers including a lot of Masters students from the NFTS. These students have had roughtly 5 months to develop and build their ideas before their presentations at EGX, although they have until Chrismas to finish their project
Not every project has a website up and running for their work, especially those of the National Film and Television School, but where websites are available I’ll like them in the show notes.
Please remember that all of the audio was recorded live at the convention in a noisy environment, so I’ll apologise in advance for any audio issues.
I had the chance to explore so many great games at EGX this year. Falling Sky, even though it’s a student project has a really great feel to it and I’m really interested in where Jonathan Nielssen takes it. I absolutely adored Jo Paterson’s music in May. Sunless Skies, 2000 to 1 and The Town Of Light I found myself getting immediately immersed in and I could have so easily played them for hours, which of course you can’t have at a convention, but I’ll definately be picking these up and playing some more of them when I have some free time!
Today I’ve been working, so I only had an hour in the evening to pop into EGX, however whilst I was there, I was lucky to have a chat with Chris who is working on Lightseekers
Head of health and safety : Ben Moss-Woodward – Cmdr Eid LeWeise Chief Archivist : Colin Ford – Cmdr phoenix_dfire Chief Bar Steward : Grant Woolcott – Cmdr Psykokow Intrepid Explorer : Cmdr Shanaeri Snake Charmer : Ashley Devine – (CMDR) Dr Toxic
People have speculated guardian tech forms the basis of anti-thargoid weapons. Noticed similarity of blue glow. Shape of object inside the warhead and also shape of Thargoid Anti shutdown device.

Powerplay Unpledge Notice – Due to the changes coming in with Powerplay and consensual PvP, Any cmdr with 0 merits assigned against them on the 26th will be unpledged from their power. This is to stop people who haven’t ‘Powerplayed’ for a time not to be seen as fair game by PvP’s. There is nothing stopping you re-pledging after the 26th but if you have a single merit, you will remain pledged and therefore seen as fair game for any PvP players in Open and the Private Groups. So, if you want to PvP, go Powerplay!
20 KLY route plotting Range. Pros and cons.. Some things to bear in mind. Route clustering, difficulty in finding road blocks and missing POI on the way, Was no way pointing a missed trick?
Plotting the Neutron Highway
Previous jumps displayed as dashed grey line, don’t think they are persistent
Last Scoopable Star
Always Emerge safely when jumping into close binary systems?
Hull Repairs and Limpet Synth
Heat sync synth(uses non natural materials. Pro’s and cons)
Air in a can too according to Shan(uses Iron and Nickel..)

ED-RPG – Backers can collect their books (and dice) from the expo on 7th Oct.
Anyone who is interested should email info@edrpg.co.uk with the email address they used to back us with and the name they opted to go for in the credits.
Mobius PVE group – There appears to be a little confusion about PvP rules within Combat Zones in the PVE group raised by the present CG. At the moment, you can fire on other players in a CZ if they are on the other side. However constant player killing in the CZs is frowned upon and if you keep on killing Cmdrs, you will get banned. Due to the number of incidents of ‘Not so Friendly Fire’, they are thinking about a blanket PvP Ban, even in CZs. We’ll let you know what they decide.
PC Gamer says that according eddb, 0nly 0.0039% of the galaxy has been explored yet. Plenty of space to get that first discovered by tag.
Our sisters over in Hutton have updated their website http://hot.forthemug.com/ giving us funky things such as the stats arena and General Nocti Vegas’ mission orders.
Cmdr Obdurate Woe had his SRV lifted from the ground up into a Station with help from
CMDR Kale Regan (High Speed Catcher)
CMDR Apollo687 (Back Up Boopist)
CMDR LasTCHaNcE1918 (Back Up Boopist)
CMDR Infinite Edge X (Back Up Boopist)
CMDR Joel McB (Catcher)
CMDR Tracervullet (Chief Boopist)
CMDR Free Legend (Beacon Boyo)
Sadly the SRV isn’t affected by the station’s coriolis effect and winds up inside the station’s superstructure with graphical glitches everywhere, but it’s just mental! 🙂
