The Elite-Encounters RPG is on Sale.

Those of you who have been following Elite:Dangerous since the Kickstarter, will know of the original RPG project by Dave Hughes at Daftworks. Well, after five years of struggle, The Elite Encounters RPG has been approved for release and digital copies of the game are now available for sale at the Daftworks Store.

All of us at Lave Radio wish to send our congratulations to Dave as we know how much effort, blood, sweat, tears, coffee and late nights he’s put into this project (with a little bit of help from our own Colin Ford, among many others).

We have three episodes using the game and they can be found at:

  1. RPG Episode 1
  2. RPG Episode 2
  3. RPG Episode 3

Cheers Dave. o7 Commander

P.S. Colin (PhoenixDfire) says play the vehicle combat rules; they’re awesome.

On Friday I went to a Panel on the Past, Present and Future of XCOM with Julian Gollop, the original creator of X-COM: UFO Defense , and Jake Solomon, creative director of the current XCOM. At the panel I bumped into Cmdr Wishblend and spoke to her about the highlight’s of her day.

On Saturday and Sunday I spoke to a lot of the Smaller Developers including a lot of Masters students from the NFTS. These students have had roughtly 5 months to develop and build their ideas before their presentations at EGX, although they have until Chrismas to finish their project

Not every project has a website up and running for their work, especially those of the National Film and Television School, but where websites are available I’ll like them in the show notes.

Please remember that all of the audio was recorded live at the convention in a noisy environment, so I’ll apologise in advance for any audio issues.

Developer Sessions

Games

I had the chance to explore so many great games at EGX this year. Falling Sky, even though it’s a student project has a really great feel to it and I’m really interested in where Jonathan Nielssen takes it. I absolutely adored Jo Paterson’s music in May. Sunless Skies, 2000 to 1 and The Town Of Light I found myself getting immediately immersed in and I could have so easily played them for hours, which of course you can’t have at a convention, but I’ll definately be picking these up and playing some more of them when I have some free time!

    • Powerplay Unpledge Notice – Due to the changes coming in with Powerplay and consensual PvP, Any cmdr with 0 merits assigned against them on the 26th will be unpledged from their power. This is to stop people who haven’t ‘Powerplayed’ for a time not to be seen as fair game by PvP’s. There is nothing stopping you re-pledging after the 26th but if you have a single merit, you will remain pledged and therefore seen as fair game for any PvP players in Open and the Private Groups. So, if you want to PvP, go Powerplay!

    • Mobius PVE group – There appears to be a little confusion about PvP rules within Combat Zones in the PVE group raised by the present CG. At the moment, you can fire on other players in a CZ if they are on the other side. However constant player killing in the CZs is frowned upon and if you keep on killing Cmdrs, you will get banned. Due to the number of incidents of ‘Not so Friendly Fire’, they are thinking about a blanket PvP Ban, even in CZs. We’ll let you know what they decide.
