Mostly Clueless

  1. Domzila2112
A good alternative to Manufactured material gathering at Davs hope is to shoot and destroy Beluga liners visiting the Hot Jupiter tourist beacon on COL 285 sector RF-C B14-7 B. It’s an ANARCHY system so weapons hot!
  2. cmdr M K Vime on Discord: Most of the negative views I’ve come across are from experienced players.
And of the ” I’m a billionaire owner of a fleet carrier and running around bases
to collect(or steal) stuff is not for me … ” variety.
For some, Ody is a bit of a culture shock and not the Elite that they expect or want.
And I can understand that to a degree.
For those who say it is a massive grind, and there are many, I can tell them that most of my mats came from regular gameplay/missions. And that I’ve got all my gear upgraded and done in about 8 weeks.

Any other business

  1. VR’s BIGGEST Problem Right Now
This is a really really good discussion with a VR Developer about the difficulties involved in making a real vr game. Thinking about them maybe explains at least partly why Odyssey doesn’t have VR… Although I think we could get rid of some of them for an easier conversion.
    1. “The blueprints and assumptions you have based on traditional game design do not work in the same way when it comes to VR” Steve Watt – Creative Director AEXLAB
    2. Pancake land games are a window on a world with “cheats” to make it feel more real. VR Games – the devs lose control of the “camera”
    3. Need to take the players physical AND virtual position and make them the same, otherwise you get disconnect and can feel nauseous
    4. Since you’re in a world… how to you “make” the player LOOK at what you need them to look at? You can’t just grab the camera and move it!
    5. You don’t want to press “F” to interact with an item, or R to reload… You want to pick up the item, manipulate it, press the button to open the chest, press. Use the terminals in the concourse, etc
    6. If something “looks interactive” it has to “be interactive”
    7. Games lie to us about scale and models
    8. These things have to be spot on for a “good” VR game
      1. Netcode
      2. Performance
      3. Latency
      4. Item Interactions
      5. Weapon (and other object)’s spray patterns
      6. “Play space cheating”
        1. People use the Advanced Settings menu to adjust their play space super high so their point of view ends up being way up above the ground. They can see and shoot over cover, but their player model stays behind the cover so it’s basically impossible to kill them without perfectly tossed nades or ambushes. They can just sit there and pick people off without having to move.
