About guilds and other “MMO’s”. I think the main thing to look at is what the games make the point of being in a guild is. Some have game loops that require a guild to complete (10 man / 25 man challenges etc). Not like Elite where you have now your first flavour of something that really is made easier having a “guild” / “squadron”.
I think we now have two things, if you include Powerplay as being potentially more fun as a squad but it isn’t compulsory. Same with Trailblazers.
Sea of Thieves has something where you have guild ships where you can commit your boat to the guild and then anyone can use that boat. But then you can’t if they are unless they have a spot free on the boat (however, the boats have proper multi-crew requirements unlike current Elite ships).
So I wonder what Frontier might be thinking about giving us some game loops that require groups of people to complete.
I can see them being careful not to create anything that excludes the solo player, so maybe it’ll be more like sharing ships you don’t use yourself. Helping new players and getting achievements for teaming up with new people that achieve game goals while teamed with you etc. Or may they be being more brave with some exclusive activities? Who knows….
