The logic of no defence being the stronger defence: Why myrmidon should NOT send in defenders if serious about friendly first contact.
If a player wishes to harm alien they can do so at will in private group or solo.
You cannot defend against it. You can only outrun it.
Sending defenders into open play 1) wastes resources. 2) draws attention 3) encourages hostile activity to the area, some of which might resort to private or solo to bypass any defence.
At no point does sending defenders to the area increase the security for the alien, it only puts them more at risk.
Finding first. Finding quietly. That is how you protect alien life, first contact. To do otherwise is to contradict the stated aims of the group..
