Development News – what have the devs said this week?

  1. Dec 10th event postponed until Feb 25th. Those who brought tickets can either carry them over until then or get a refund on tickets only. Lost hotel bookings etc will not be reimbursed by fdev.
  2. Thursday’s Stream – Arf shows off the new planetary lighting that will be coming in update 9.
  3. Update 9 will be released on the 9th December

      1. Combat SRV + appropriate missions.
      2. More mission variation and Settlement Mission givers.

    2. Some highlighted bug fixes :-
      1. Issues relating to inactive AI at conflict zones will now be resolved.
      2. Issues relating to hatch breaker limpets when used on cargo hatch or escape pods on non-dockable megaships (Odyssey and Horizons)
      3. Thermal Conduit no longer has the incorrect damage increase and is correctly represented visually.
      4. Completing high influence missions will now affect Background Simulation as expected.
      5. Stations no longer ‘pop’ into existence when jumping out of supercruise
    3. What’s coming 2022
      1. The conclusion to the Azimuth Saga (hopefully Galnet and background narrative will continue).
      2. Fleet Carrier Interiors.
      3. Last stream on the 16th with the developers making a contribution.
      4. Outside of Fleet Carrier interiors, the development team are hard at work on new features and mission types, such as settlement defence that I cannot wait to share more on. 
      5. We are also reviewing and assessing a number of areas that you have raised, such as the Engineering process, but as I said, I will leave those details for January!
      6. Nothing Announced on Consoles!
      7. Development Updates will resume in January 2022.

Orion University suspects that it has new information about the Guardians but that information has been lost and people are scared that the less scrupulous individuals will try and retrieve that data (Ahem Salvation?)

      Yes, the Dockers are coming back this year with a Christmas special and they have set up a kickstarter on justgiving. Yes that’s right, a kickstarter on Just Giving. I don’t think they quite understand that all the money will be going to charity.

      If you haven’t heard of it before Dockers is a mockumentary podcast about the ordinary folk of the Galaxy from the lowly toilet attendants to famous wildlife documentary makers. It’s been going for a few years and usually does a live show at Lavecon, late at night, well after the watershed because it’s very, very naughty

      If they meet their target they will put on the Christmas show, (though to be honest they will put it on regardless.) They have some rewards in their charity kickstarter.
